Feelings at full-time
“Relieved is the big thing. Delighted with how the lads stuck to task, especially when things were going against them. I thought you saw a team that were working hard for each other and sticking to the system. It definitely wasn’t perfect, 0-12 down early on made it very difficult but the guys fought their way back into the game really well.
"To get over the line in the last two or three minutes gives us a lot of confidence going forward."
Finding a way to win
"Young players learn from these experiences and luckily, we were able to get over the line. When we review we will look at situations where we didn’t quite seem in sync as a team. I’ll keep going back to the same thing, five points down with five minutes to go and we found a way to win the game.
"This was a big step in the right direction, the team stuck together, kept playing the same way and it’s a team try at the end."
Team spirit
"When you look out from the coaches’ box and see your team working hard for each other and solving to try problems that’s a very encouraging sign because we will get better from that. When you look out and see that your team is fractured and individuals are doing their own thing. I thought the lads stuck together really well and the changing room is relieved. We’ll build on from this and build from this going into Dragons."
Six URC games to go
"There are six games left, for me we will ignore the play-offs and will concentrate on the games right in front of us. These next few weeks we will prepare the team for Dragons. I think we play better when we have a narrower focus."
Thankful for the fans
"The fans always support us to the end, it can be difficult being an Ulster fan at the moment and it’s hard for everyone. I think they could see a team that are committed to doing well. Mistakes will happen, young guys are standing up and learning in a high pressured situation."

Importance of win
“It was absolutely crucial for us, we needed that win to salvage what we can from this season. The season hasn’t went as planned but we think we can salvage something. We aren’t sitting in too good a spot in the table at the moment we can still reach the play-offs and it’s within reach.”
Team performance
“We talked all week that we needed to go out with belief. We all needed to go out and play. The start of the game didn’t go the way we wanted it to but the lads believed we could get ourselves back into it. Jack (Murphy) was very good off the tee today and he kept us in it with points. It was a 1-23 performance and the bench had a good impact.”
On kicking the ball out
“Last time I kicked the ball was when I was playing for Cambridge House Grammar, I was wearing their socks today! I kicked the ball and my coach back then said I think you should stick to keeping the ball in your hands. That was definitely the last time I kicked the ball but it was just something I did in the moment.”
Difficult start
“It was early and we had plenty of time. They probably got a bit of luck with the bounce of the ball at the start and caught us a bit off guard. We had the belief to get something out of it and fight for the win. It wasn’t pretty but that was like a good day at Cambridge House!
“Scarlets are quality, they have big players in their team and are tough. They didn’t come to lose.”
Not giving up
“It’s the heart. It’s all about the heart, when you keep getting beat you can’t shy away from it. You either shy away from it and completely ruin your season or you stand up to the fight. You have to keep at it, you have no other option with you backs against the wall. Every fixture is very important.”
