Campaign so far

It has been a contrasting campaign for the two sides to date. Ulster are undefeated in the competition fo far, accounting for ASM Clermont Auvergne and Northampton Saints both home and away in the pool stages to rank second overall in Pool A on 19 match points.

The reigning champions, Toulouse, have had an uncharacteristically rocky journey to this stage. They opened their campaign with a thumping 7-39 win away in Cardiff. Their Round 2 fixture against Wasps was cancelled due to Covid, with the result being recorded as a 0-0 draw. In Round 3, Toulouse travelled to Wasps and were defeated 30-22. Then in Round 4, their scheduled home fixture against Cardiff was also cancelled due to Covid, with Cardiff being awarded the five match points. Toulouse's total of seven match points was enough to finish 7th in Pool B.

The Opposition

Stade Toulousain are synonymous with the Heineken Champions Cup, having won the competition more than any other club. They collected their fifth European title by defeating Stade Rochelais in last year's final.

Toulouse have a star-studded squad, featuring the likes of current World Rugby and Six Nations Player of the Year Antoine Dupont, and his fellow French internationals Romain Ntamack, Cyril Baille and Julien Marchand.
