Danske Bank Schools' Bowl Final Match Report | Ballyclare HS 38-3 Limavady GS

Ballyclare High School were the deserved victors after a five- try performance against Limavady Grammar School in the Danske Bank Schools' Bowl final at Kingspan Stadium.

In a fast paced start to the final, it was Limavady who put the first points on the board, with James Laird converting.

Ballyclare had showed their strong carrying in the opening minutes and they hit back with the first try of the match.

After strong carries from the forwards inside the Limavady 22, it was number eight, Austin Adair, who picked the ball up close to the Limavady tryline and powered over from close range.

Scrum-half, James Woodside, was accurate from the tee to add the extra two points.

Ballyclare then grabbed a quickfire second, after an attack into the Limavady 22. The ball was shot out wide to wing, Ben Vance, who found himself in space ion the right wing. The winger took on his defender in the channel and galloped around the outside for a deadly finish. Woodside's nudge from the difficult angle was well executed.

Woodside would add another penalty conversion to send the Antrim school into a half-time lead of 17-3.

Ballyclare were good value for the lead, with their intensity around the breakdown and strength around set pieces giving them a great platform to work from.

After the break, it didn't take Ballyclare long to extend their dominance.

Number eight, Austin Adair, showing great power once again to break the Limavady defensive line and surge over to score. Woodside converted once again.

Captain Isaac Shiels lead by example, with one huge hit in particular to stop a Limavady attack gaining cheers from his teammates.

Ballyclare then increased their lead when Limavady failed to clear their lines and from the clearnace kick, Ben Vance showed great footwork to run towards the corner and dive for his spectacular second try of the afternoon.

Woodside kept up his 100% record from the tee to make the score 31-3.

Limavady never stopped their work rate but were unable to make any decisive actions and were being pegged back by the intensity of the Ballyclare pack.

Replacement forward, Joshua Tweed, then added a fifth try for Ballyclare, after finding a yard of space and ploughing through contact to score.

Woodside made it six successful kicks from six and ended the contest at 38-3 for a deserved Schools' Bowl final victory.
