Ulster ready to face Exeter at Sandy Park

Head Coach, Richie Murphy, has named his Ulster side that will travel to Sandy Park to take on Exeter Chiefs tomorrow (KO 5pm).

The province face the Gallagher Premiership side this Saturday after getting their pre-season off to a positive start last weekend in a 26-19 victory against Benetton at Kingspan Stadium.

Lock, Alan O’Connor, captains the side from the second row alongside Kieran Treadwell.

The front row sees a return to action for Andrew Warwick at loosehead prop, James McCormick at hooker, and trialist, Corrie Barrett, at tighthead prop.

In the back row, the Rea brothers line up together, with Matty on the blindside and Marcus at openside flanker. Development talent, James McNabney, starts at eight.

The half back partnership this weekend sees scrum-half, Nathan Doak, pairing up with Kiwi, Aidan Morgan, who made his debut for the province last weekend.

Ben Carson starts at inside centre and is joined by Jude Postlethwaite, who scored an impressive try against Benetton, at outside centre.

The pair have a great combination together after winning the U20 Grand Slam in 2022, under Murphy’s stewardship.

Trialist Zac Ward gets the nod on the right wing for his first start, after making an appearance from the bench last week.

Aaron Sexton starts again on the right wing with Ethan McIlroy completing the backfield at full-back.

Murphy opts for a fourteen- strong bench, with a 8:6 split.

John Andrew, Eric O’Sullivan, Scott Wilson, Henry Walker, Harry Sheridan, Reuben Crothers, David McCann and Nick Timoney provide the forward options from the bench.

Dave Shanahan, James Humphreys, Mike Lowry, Stewart Moore and new boy, Werner Kok, will provide the back options. Ben Moxham is also named amongst the replacements, as he works towards his recovery from a long- term injury sustained last year.
