Ulster Rugby v Ospreys, 36-12, BKT United Rugby Championship, 18 October 2024
Richie Murphy's team put in an impressive six-try performance against the Welsh side back in October 2024.
Both Jacob Stockdale and James McCormick scored twice in the fixture, with hooker McCormick scoring his first tries in professional rugby.
Ulster fans might remember a trademark Jacob Stockdale finish, with the Ireland international pulling off an acrobatic dive to dot the ball down in the corner during the second half.
Richie Murphy's team put on a thrilling display in Belfast, securing a bonus point fourth try in the first half through Marcus Rea to showcase their dominance.
Stockdale and McCormick grabbed scores in the second half to put the result to bed. For the spirited visitors, Sam Parry and Keelan Giles scored a try each.
Players To Watch
Owen Watkin
Released from the Wales Six Nations squad for the weekend's action, Watkin is an experienced international centre with 44 caps for his country.
Known for his strong defence, physicality, and ability with ball in hand, he has become a key figure in the Ospreys midfield and has racked up well over 120 appearances for the club.
Internationally, Watkin earned his first Wales cap against Australia in November 2017 and has since featured regularly for the national side, including as part of Wales’ 2019 Six Nations Grand Slam-winning team. His game combines robust carries, solid defensive reads, and a growing leadership presence on and off the pitch.
Ryan Smith
An Australian forward who joined Ospreys from Super Rugby side, Queensland Reds, Smith brings power and size to the Ospreys pack. The Queensland born man represented the Reds last summer against the British and Irish Lions.
During his time at the Reds he became a key figure in the pack, captaining the side on occasions and amassing over 60 appearances in Super Rugby Pacific, while also earning selection for Australia A and inclusion in Wallabies training squads alongside current Ulster star, Angus Bell.
Keelan Giles
Known for his electric pace, elusive footwork and try-scoring instincts.
Giles made his senior Ospreys debut in 2016 and has since become one of the region’s most effective attacking weapons, scoring consistently and reaching over 100 appearances for the club. His ability to beat defenders and finish scoring opportunities has seen him climb into the Ospreys’ all-time try-scoring charts.
Internationally, he was called into Wales squads from a young age and, after years of strong domestic form, finally earned his first senior cap in 2025 during Wales’ summer tour.
