Your Local Club Hero Winner!

At Ulster Rugby, we know the game is about more than what happens on the pitch, it’s the incredible people behind the scenes who make rugby across the province special, and one of those people has now been chosen to be celebrated.

Together with our friends at Bank of Ireland, we’re proud to celebrate the passion, commitment and community spirit that define rugby across Ulster. We asked supporters to nominate their local Club Hero, someone who goes above and beyond for their club, for the chance to win TWO 2026 Game Passes.

The response was overwhelming, with a huge number of nominations received from right across the province. Every entry highlighted the incredible dedication and selfless efforts of those who support grassroots rugby week in, week out.

And now, the moment you've been waiting for... we can reveal the winner.

Your Local Club Hero Winner is Josephine Strain from the City of Armagh Rugby Club.

We are delighted to announce Josephine Strain as the winner of our Local Club Hero competition, a truly deserving recipient whose dedication, selflessness and passion embody everything that grassroots rugby stands for.

Josephine goes above and beyond for City of Armagh Rugby Club, giving countless hours to coaching and supporting players across the club, particularly the girls’ U16s and U12s teams. As both a mum and a coach, she empowers every player, builds confidence on and off the pitch, and ensures that enjoyment of rugby is just as important as results.

Her commitment is nothing short of remarkable. Even after suffering a serious knee injury that required surgery, Josephine was back on the sidelines with a brace, crutches and all continuing to coach, run the line on match days, and support her teams without hesitation. Where many would understandably step back, Josephine put her club and players first.

Beyond coaching, she has taken on the role of club secretary, organised fundraisers including the Pretty in Pink event, and is always at the heart of club life. From welcoming new players and parents, to making sure everyone feels involved, Josephine helps create a happy, inclusive club environment. And if there’s a tuck shop or tea stall, you can be sure her home baking won’t be far away!

Josephine never asks for recognition, she simply wants a happy club and happy players. Her generosity of time, energy and care makes her not just a Club Hero, but a wonderful human being who has left a lasting impact on everyone around her.

Congratulations, Josephine, and thank you for everything you do!
