Stephen Black appointed Chair of IRFU Management Committee

Following this week’s IRFU Annual Council meeting, Stephan Black has been appointed to the position of Chair of the IRFU Management Committee. 

A member of Malone RFC, Stephen and has held many positions within the club, including President.

A native of Antrim town, the former Principal of Ballymena Academy has also sat on the IRFU’s Union Committee since 2019 and has also held the position of Chair of the IRFU Rugby Committee since 2022. 

“I am honoured to have the opportunity to serve as Chair of the Management Committee and I would like to thank the members of the Union Committee for their confidence and support”, said Stephen following appointment. 

“Irish rugby benefits from an extraordinary network of volunteers, administrators, coaches, players and supporters whose commitment underpins the success of the game across the island. I look forward to working closely with colleagues across the Union as we continue to strengthen and develop the game for everyone involved. 

“Together, we will continue to focus on delivering great rugby experiences, achieving our high-performance ambitions, accelerating the woman’s game, and inspiring current and future generations to be part of Irish Rugby.”
