Biography
Stuart McCloskey is a powerful and experienced international centre who is one of the most influential players in Irish Rugby.
The 34-year-old is aging like a fine wine, and his outstanding performances in the 2026 Guinness Six Nations for Ireland saw him shortlisted for the Player of the Championship Award.
The Championship saw him given a new nickname, with the French press calling the Bangor man 'The Irish Fridge'.
The former Bangor Grammar pupil caught the eye playing for Dungannon RFC in the AIL and he joined the Ulster Rugby Academy, making his senior debut against Dragons in February 2014.
Stuart is an Ulster fan favourite, and has amassed over 200 appearances for his province.
Renowned for his physicality, ball-carrying and ability to create opportunities for those around him, he is a key figure in both the Ulster and Ireland midfield.
He made his Ireland debut against England in the 2016 Six Nations and was part of the 2023 Grand Slam-winning side and Ireland’s 2023 Rugby World Cup squad.
Stuart enjoyed an outstanding 2025/26 season, earning selection in the URC Elite XV and being named Rugby Players Ireland Men’s 15s Players’ Player of the Year.
He signed a new one-year extension in June 2026, keeping him at Ulster until 2028.
