Biography
Nick Timoney is huge presence in the Ulster back row, and is one of the province's key players.
Primarily a flanker, Nick is renowned for his fearlessness, work-rate and ability around the breakdown making vital turnovers.
He has developed into a leader in the team, often captaining the province in the absence of Iain Henderson.
The former Schools’ Cup winning captain at Blackrock College joined the Ulster Academy in 2015, after impressing for both St Mary’s RFC and Ireland U20s.
He would go on to make his Ulster senior debut in 2017 and, in the same year, played with the Ireland Sevens programme on their Grand Prix Series, helping the side to qualify for the 2018 Sevens World Cup.
Timoney’s eye-catching performances across the back row have seen him become a regular member of the Ireland international squad in recent years, having made his debut against USA in 2021.
After a spell outside the international matchday squad, Timoney returned to Ireland duty in 2025 and enjoyed a breakthrough 2026 Guinness Six Nations campaign, earning his first Championship start against Wales and reaching double figures for Ireland caps.
He continues to be a colossus in Ulster’s back row.
